Let us invite you to take part in The International Conference of Young Scholars "Bioinformatics of regulation and genome structure. Systems biology" within the framework of the science festival which will take place at National research Tomsk state university, September, 21-22 2012.

The Conference Programme includes: seminars, lectures by leading scientists, presentations by participants. The Conference is aimed (intended primarily for) to bachelor and master students, postgraduate students, young scientists and young lecturers.

Bioinformatics as a science is almost a separate branch of molecular biology. Nowadays there are number of definitions for the term “Bioinformatics”. Some consider bioinformatics a branch of science which deals with human genome decoding. Others suggest that bioinformatics is systems biology, which allows to analyze, study and systematize the biology in general.

The aim of the systems biology – is a complex experimental and computer-assisted study of regularities of organization and functioning of biological systems of molecular genetic, cellular, tissular, organ and organismic levels basing on the information encoded in their genomes.

The most important sources of experimental data for systems biology are high-performance experimental technologies: high-performance parallel sequence analysis of genome DNA and population and evolution analysis of DNA; technologies for gene and gene complex expression analysis; structural and functional study of proteins and metabolites basing on proteomic and mass-spectrographic methods; study of the structure and function of biological objects (macromolecules, chromosomes, cells, tissues, organs, organisms) using modern microscopic technique; intravital tomography of laboratory animals; construction of artificial molecular genetic systems using genetic engineering methods.

In systems biology, bioinformatics methods play the enormous importance. These methods allow for collecting and integration of the experimental data, its computer analysis, mathematic structure modeling, function and evolution of living systems. High-performance (supercomputer-assisted and distributed) calculations play the key role.

Systems biology is following the same path as physics, when experiment modeling and interpretation of the results are impossible without thorough theoretical and computer processing systems and processes studied. In this respect, in the framework of the conference much attention will be paid to the researches, based on integration of the experimental and computer/theoretical approaches.

Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation in the framework of federal special-purpose programme “Academic and scientific-academic staff of innovative Russia” for 2009-2013 initiated and supported the implementation of the International youth scientific conference "Bioinformatics of regulation and genome structure. Systems biology" at National research Tomsk state university within the framework of the science festival.

The goal of the conference is the effective assimilation of the best scientific and methodological native and foreign achievements in the field of bioinformatics and systems biology.

Project tasks:

1. Strengthen the combined efforts of Russian and foreign researchers engaged in the study of bioinformatics and systems biology.

2. For young researchers and specialists to exchange experiences in the field of bioinformatics and systems biology, introduction of the new methods and approaches.

4. Apply acquired knowledge to stimulate the production of new ideas, projects and creative teams.

The project will be implemented through the following course of events:

1. Opening lectures by leading researchers from Russia and abroad.

2. Presentations by students, post-graduate students, young researchers and teachers.

3. Master-class by leading Russian scientists.

The file format MS Word. The title of the file must contain the last name and initials of the author (Petrov E.E.).

The margins: left – 1.8 sm.; top, bottoms – 2.6 sm.

The font for the whole text – Times New Roman, font size – 10 pt., line spacing – single line.

Title: center alignment, no indention, no hyphenation.

Title text: upper case, boldface, font.

Author’s last, first name, patronymic and affiliations: lower case, regular font.

Main body: justify alignment, indention – 0.5 sm., automatic hyphenation.

Title, author’s details and the main body of the text shall be spaced with a single line.

References shall be placed after the text.

At the end of the text the paper title, author’s name and affiliations shall be given in English. The amount of pages is unlimited. The papers shall not include tables, graphs, pictures or references to literature.

Up to two papers are accepted from one author. After the conference is finished, the papers will be collected and made available at the conference website
